New Programs for Community C.A.R.E.S.
September 2, 2005
Starting October 3, Community C.A.R.E.S. Learning Center will be starting a brand new year of after school programming for students in kindergarten through high school. Community C.A.R.E.S. is revamping its after school structure, and hopefully the new schedule will provide a variety of choices for all of our students! For our youngest students, there will be a five-day after school program for students in kindergarten and first grade. This program, which will run 3:00-6:00 Monday-Friday, will provide small group homework help, tutoring, and enrichment activities for all of the participants. The students will also be able to work with teachers once a week during our WINGS tutoring program. Second through eighth graders can choose to participate in several programs that will be offered. For the second-fourth grade, students can sign up for Art, Sports, or Computers, which will be offered twice a week, and for Guitar or Pep Squad, which will be offered once a week. The fifth-eighth grade will also have Art, Sports and Technology twice a week, and Youth Jam and a new Dance Team will practice once a week. The WINGS tutoring program will be open to the entire school, and will be offered once a week by age group. Community CARES will also be producing a musical this session, which will begin rehearsals in October and open in mid-December. Saturday school classes in Terra Nova, PSSA and SAT prep will be offered again this year. Furthermore, adult classes will begin on Wednesdays in October. This session, Community CARES will be offering Art and Computers for adults. All of Community CARES’ programs are open to any member of the community. More information with dates, times, and program fees will be ready in September. For more information, contact the CARES office.
