SCHOOL REFORM COMMISSION LAUNCHES SECOND CHARTER SCHOOL TASKFORCE: PARENTS, TEACHERS, CHARTER OPERATORS AND ALL COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE
January 29, 2009 The School Reform Commission recently launched a second Charter School Taskforce in order to continue to building a positive working relationship between the School District of Philadelphia and the charter school community. All charter school stakeholders -- including but not limited to parents, teachers, charter operators and other community stakeholders -- are invited to give their thoughts and feedback directly to the Charter School Taskforce at two public meetings scheduled for February 3, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, and February 5, from 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Input from these public meetings will help inform recommendations that the Charter School Taskforce will submit to the SRC. The Charter School Taskforce is seeking input on issues related to: the kinds of technical assistance the School District could offer charter schools, the kinds of accountability measures the School District should use, and what the School District can do to facilitate the sharing of best practices both among charter schools and between the School District and the charter school community.
