The cost of this course is $150 per student.  Checks can be made payable to New Foundations.  Tuition is due Friday, June 9, 2017.  Space is limited to 25 students per class.

WorkReady

NFCS is a provider of the WorkReady program, and summer youth employment program sponsored by the Philadelphia Youth Network. Applications for the 2017 summer are now available online at www.workready.org.

NFCS has two programs for youth, so please read below to help decide which program is best for you. The program is open to ANY youth in Philadelphia who meet the age and participation requirements. Applications must be completed online with the Referral Code provided.  Youth will receive an email from the staff regarding enrollment and interviews.

All jobs are 20 hours/week at a local business or organization. Youth are paid $7.25/hour and will report to an on-site supervisor. The staff works to ensure that youth are placed at a worksite that best fits their interests and experience levels. The program starts Monday, July 3, and ends Friday, August 11.

In order to be eligible, youth must complete an online application, and then come to NFCS for enrollment and an interview during an assigned time. Youth will be required to bring eligibility documentation (birth certificate, Social Security card, school ID or report card), complete an online background check (in accordance with Pennsylvania state law), and submit PYN’s required permission forms.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. O’Neill at aoneill@nfcs.k12.pa.us. (Parents please note: only follow-up emails from parents will be answered. All information and questions should be submitted by youth. Information regarding interviews, eligibility, paperwork, and placement will be given to youth directly!)

Rising 8th Graders

The Career Exposure Summer Academy Program will explore 21st Century skill building, college and career exploration, and help students better navigate 8th grade and high school to lead to a more successful future.  Students will complete a service learning project, and take trips to local universities and to business such as Comcast, Wells Fargo, Pizza Brain, the Firehouse, etc. Students also have the opportunity earn $50/week for their participation. The students need to be current 7th graders (8th grade in fall of 2017), available for a 6-week summer program on Tuesdays-Thursdays, 8:30am-3:30pm from June 27th-August 3rd and must be able to get to and from New Foundations for the program (8001 Torresdale Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19136).

There will be a family information session next Wednesday, 4/26 at 6pm at New Foundations in the K-8 Building. Attendance at this information session is strongly recommended. Program applications will be distributed at this session. If you are interested in applying but are not able to make the session, please e-mail Ms. Tiffany at tsearles@nfcs.k12.pa.us by Thursday, April 27th.
